Steiner Education in Norwich

craft

In Steiner-Waldorf education great value is placed on the children learning to make things with their hands. This is seen as helpful to the younger children, who develop and learn best through movement and experiencing their bodies' interaction with the world. For older children there is also the expressive aspect of craft as their emotional development becomes more advanced. Crafts are also a good way to mark the seasons

craft group

The school’s craft group is a group of parents, often with younger children, who meet every alternate Wednesday and Thursday morning from 10.00am until 12.30pm to make beautiful Steiner/Waldorf inspired crafts.

The main objectives for the Craft Group are to raise money for the school and to produce crafts, which reflect our educational philosophy, for the school and wider community to benefit from. Bearing this in mind then, the idea at the group is that we make one item to donate to the craft stall whilst learning the skills to enable us to make our own at home if desired.

We aim to make items to sell at our two main Fayres in the year – the Summer Fayre and Advent Fayre. We will then plan to make a beautiful ‘display only’ stall for information on Open Days. We meet at my home in Hempnall – a fifteen minute drive from school and there are often lifts available if you need one. If you are interested in joining us please phone Bev Wilding on 01508499573 for more information and directions.
